performance dates for Equus My dates my have altered so here are the real ones:
Yes, it's that time again, another Jeff Lesniak Theater Announcement.
This time .. Equus, by Peter Shaffer, directed by Yours Truly. At the Greenbelt Arts Center, June 2-24 (Fri/Sat at 8:00, Sundays the 11 & 18th at 2:00). This is a drama about a young boy who blinded six horses with a metal spike, and the psychiatrist who is trying to find out the reason. I have assembled the usual wonderful cast, this time consisting of Steve Backus, Randy Barth*, John Decker, Sandy Irving*, Beatriz Mayoral, Nigel Parkinson Jr., Allison Plourde, Patti Restivo, David Wisdom, and Barbara Ying.
(Note: this production contains adult situations and nudity, thus no one under 17 admitted without a parent.)
And this will probably be the last announcement of the year. After 'Noises Off' and 'Equus', I need a break, and will be taking the rest of the year off of major theatrical endeavours to concentrate on other pursuits. Unless something amazing falls in my lap, of course. So if you want to see me again this year, this is the show to attend.
For directions and all that, www.greenbeltartscenter.org
* Sandy appears the 1st and 3rd weekends, Randy the 2nd and 4th.

Equus rehearsal Last nights tech went rather well. I went nude for the first time in front of the cast. It wasn't too bad considering I had a sweltering sweater on. The nude scene became a rather relief. So, anyway the dates for Equus are as follows; June 2 and 3, 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th and 19th and 24th and 25th. So, if you are up for an intense night come down to GAC. | | Tuesday, May 30th, 2006 | | 11:14 am |

Equus rehearsal
Last nights rehearsal was wonderful. My friend Jon gave me the freakin shakes with the speech that he did as Dysart. This is going to be one intense fuckin play! The only thing is we need horses! We would rather not do animatronics. ANYONE OUT THERE IN NEED FOR SOMETHING TO DO PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS LJ! We need five people to be horses and you can see the show from a totally different angle! This is show is gonna be good! Sexual Diva Current Mood: determined | | Tuesday, May 9th, 2006 | | 10:07 am |
rehearsal
I went to Equus rehearsal last night and I just couldn't help laughing. That was the first time I saw the Alan /horse scene. The character Alan gets up onto a horse and starts to ride. Steve mounted this guy on his back and rode him around the room yelling, "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, WONDERFUL!" Just that act enough was to make any person eyes water from laughing. It was like watching a porno film! SD | | Monday, May 8th, 2006 | | 10:12 am |
Dreaming
I am sitting in a background full of vibrant light. There do I see the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. He is black with eyes of firery red. He lets me brush his silky coat. Then I mount him and we go riding off into the sunset. I come back from a wonderful ride. I go up to my room and I see a picture on my wall that has never been there before. It is a picture of a girl that looks like me but in victorian dress on a black stallion much like the one I was riding. How did that picture get there I shall never know! Godot
I can't get Godot out of my head. I am opening my eyes and as I open my eyes I see the possibilities. This play is genderless. Gender has no meaning. In the eyes of Godot I see woman and man. Man could be woman and woman could be man. In the back of my mind I see these characters before me and i think WOW! These characters are not only reflections of themselves but have no gender! Through the eyes of Godot I walk by a woman and think "What is her real deal?" "Who is she?" "Is she a man or woman, good or evil, strong or weak?" This my friends is what acting is all about. Getting inside the head of someone either like us or not like us at all. I prefer the latter. The meaning of theatre is to be or not to be! In Becketts world to be is to be in a state of nothingness or what I call the opposite of this reality. In his world we are in the dream not the dreamers as in reality! Weekend
What is with this weekend? Rain, Rain, Rain. Thats all it ever does. Ok, so launching Godot is out. What do I do now? I guess i'll just wallow in my hole and work on dance routines and building muscle. Do some lines. Maybe write a story. Then maybe the FREAKIN RAIN WILL STOP! dancing
Ok, last night I filled in for Ty and the first dance was terrible. Yancy and I kept stepping on each others feet. Oh, well that just means I haven't done it in awhile. I'll get it right next time. It was so much fun because I didn't have to dance really except for that yancy dance that was it! My feet had a good rest. Thanks, Ty! | | Thursday, April 20th, 2006 | | 1:47 pm |
Dancing, just because
Ok, since I've started dancing I've become accustomed to my body and how it moves and it's coming into my acting which is really cool because my physicalization is becoming and makes me a better actor! I should take dance every day! SD | | Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 | | 10:21 am |
sculpting
Ok, I started this rigorous exercise regime about two weeks ago. I am starting to feel stronger in my legs and abs. In no time my abs will definately be sculpted. My vision of having a great body will come into focus. Believe it or not it is actually helping me with the dance routines for Midsummer. Over two hundred crunches a day is really starting to pay off! SD |
